Focus before you read. . .
In his letter to the Romans, Paul addresses a group of Christians whom he longs to see and for whom he has often prayed. In order to strengthen and comfort them, Paul outlines the basis of the gospel and the resulting behavior that is possible because of the gospel. Paul emphasizes that sin is a basic human problem we all have. We stand guilty deserving God’s judgment. Paul shares that the Good News about Christ is God’s powerful way of bringing all who believe it to heaven.
As you read. . .
1.God’s truth is known to us instinctively. What does Romans communicate about those who may say they don’t know if God exists?
2.In these chapters, does God pursue us or does He leave us to our own actions? Why or why not?
Application to make after you read. . .
The church in Rome had never been visited by Paul, yet he prayed for the Christians there “constantly” and “at all times.” CCG supports many missionaries around the world as well as local organizations reaching out in Indianapolis and Greenwood. When you pray at the dinner table or bedtime tonight, pray for one of the missionary families or an organization like Wheeler Mission that reaches out to those locally.
